Hello creatures of the sun,
Kid Hyena are back with the exciting news that next Tuesday 20th June we are releasing our first single from our new album ‘It Takes Courage to be Happy’ - ‘The Man Who Sold the Moon’. We are so happy with how it sounds & we can’t wait to share it with you all! It’s been a very interesting journey recording in our new studio, understanding the room deeper and its sweet spots. With all the time in the world and the enthusiasm of recording the song as it is one of the crowd's favourites, we think we have captured a very warm, uplifting and harmonic sound that we hope it reaches many ears around the world!
‘The Man Who Sold the Moon’ is one of our newest songs, written last autumn, it quickly took its own shape with all the different elements. It’s been a pleasure working with it as it has been one of these songs that seem to fall from the sky and all the ideas thrown at it work just really nicely.
Please spread the love around and make sure to watch this space as we will now be releasing a song every 2 weeks. You will find the songs on all streaming services and our website.
The other bit of exciting news is that we are off to Glastonbury Festival this week! We had a top time last year but this year promises to be even better as we have been given very good gig slots. If you are around & have any extra time in that musical odyssey, come to dance with us! We will be playing at the Small World Stage on Friday 9pm, on Saturday we will be playing at 9pm at the Green Room of the Circus area, and late at night in the fantastic, bonkers & definitely adventurous experience of the Piano Bar. We have unforgettable memories from last year's gig there, it was like being thrown into a lion’s den - we survived and we’re back…who knows what will happen next time!
Since our last newsletter we have been playing around Cornwall, Devon & Dorset, and have started the summer festival season with a great set and beautiful audience at Freezone Festival in Wimborne. Last night we had a lovely gig sharing the stage with latin singer Anairda & The Anarkistas at Patchwork Studios, what a great spot that is! If you’ve never been there, make sure you make some time this summer to have a real Cornish camping experience where live music is treated with alot of care and attention.
Check our website for future gigs as again we have a very busy June & July moving around the beautiful landscapes of Cornwall, Devon & Dorset. Come and say hi, you will for sure have a great time! And yes don’t forget this Tuesday - The Man Who Sold the Moon!
Cheerio
